Verification of Documents Policy

Verification of Documents Policy

Approved Version: 25/08/11

RATIONALE

The purpose of this policy is to outline the Board’s position regarding verification of documents provided in applications for registration.

POLICY

States have varying arrangements in relation to who is generally able to certify copies of documents such as qualifications. For example, in Queensland, Justices of the Peace, Commissioners of Declarations, Notaries Public and legal professionals would certify such documents, whereas in Victoria, there are also a number of professions that would be considered as appropriate to certify documents. In each case though, it is at the discretion of the receiver as to whom they would accept as appropriate to certify the documents they are receiving.

In this matter, the Board will accept documents certified in accordance with what is generally accepted practice in the State from which the applicant is applying for registration.
